Day 16

North Battleford, Saskatchewan

8/25/97

Another day, another 600-700 miles. We made it easily out of BC, across Alberta, and into Saskatchewan. On the way, we stopped at a rural tire store to get some small rocks out of the passenger-side tires, one of which was leaking rather badly. The guys were pretty nice to drop their work for a chance to do a little rehab work on a land rover. They all spoke with a lilt of Irish, an accent that is pretty common up here.

The drive between Grand Prairie and Alberta was nothing like we saw coming up. Intead of long stretches of ups and downs through forests and dodging rampaging logging trucks, today's trip was pretty smooth. Daylight does some strange things to highways.

Got a quck taste of urbanization while riding through Edmonton's rush hour. We quickly made it back into the countryside, stopping to pay homage to the giant egg in Vegreville. This would be a terrific place to welcome the new milennium!
